Toynbee Studios
Toynbee Studios has six spaces catering for professional work, ranging from intimate spaces where artists can experiment to high spec dance and theatre studios for larger production/rehearsals, as well as ideal and unusual spaces for meetings and events.
Any requests for hires for public events will be considered by Artsadmin but must be approved by the programming team as fitting with Artsadmin's artistic objectives.
Discretionary discounts are available to artists working independently without any subsidy. VAT is charged on all hires. Hire times are Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm.
Use outside these hours is subject to an additional charge for security, and must be

Public Performances
Public performances at Toynbee Studios are programmed in line with Artsadmin's artistic
policy and in collaboration with our partner organisations and artists. We don't accept
general submissions of events for inclusion in our programme.
CONFERENCES, FILMING & EVENTS
The number and adaptability of our spaces mean that Toynbee Studios is an ideal location for conferences and events for up to 280 participants. We can provide technical/AV assistance, staffing and event coordination for a wide range of bookings, using our contacts in the theatre and performance industries to meet your requirements.
Recent hosted events include:

* Campaign Against Arms Trade conferences
* Performance Matters symposium
* Diesel season launch
We've also been the location for filming of music videos for the Charlatans and the Horrors amongst others, as well as for Sky 3D and the BBC.
THEATRE
Area 10x9m (stage), capacity 280 + 50 on stage
Our art deco theatre retains many of its original features, including 280 (fixed) seats and a larger-than-average stage. Fully equipped for technical rehearsals, the theatre has also been used for film screenings, conferences and video shoots, and can be blacked out. Located on ground floor.

Basic: £1200 per week (£300 per day)
Commercial: £1800 per week (£450 per day)
COURTROOM
Area 15x8m, capacity 60 people
Perhaps our most atmospheric space, the Court Room is a characterful, wood-panelled room with small raised stage. Frequently used as a filming location and very popular for mid-scale theatrical rehearsals and readings. Equipped with a small lighting rig (restrictions apply - please ask) and harlequin floor. Blackout available. Located on 1st floor.

Basic: £680 per week (£170 per day)
Commercial: £1000 per week (£250 per day)
STUDIO 3
Area 15x14m, capacity 80 people
A wonderfully large, light space, Studio 3 is often used for contemporary dance and opera rehearsals. It has a beautiful mahogany floor (protected by a harlequin covering) and is a highly adaptable space for conferences and events. There are central pillars in the room, but its size mean these tend not to be obstructive. Located on 3rd floor.

Basic: £900 per week (£225 per day)
Commercial: £1200 per week (£300 per day)
STEVE WHITSON STUDIO
Area 13x11.5m, capacity 80 people
The SWS is booked out year round by larger-scale dance, theatre and musical rehearsals. It is equipped with a fully sprung dance floor, full-length rehearsal mirrors and barre (which can be screened if not required). The highlight of this space is the panoramic view across east London, flooding the studio with natural light. Located on 4th floor.

Commercial: £2000 per week (£500 per day)
STUDIO 5
Area 8.5x4.5m, capacity 40 people
Suitable for smaller-scale meetings, production office space, auditions and workshops, Studio 5 is an intimate studio with wooden parquet floor and white walls. Located on 1st floor.

Basic: £320 per week (£80 per day)
Commercial: £500 per week (£125 per day)
FIRE ROOM
Area 12x6m, capacity 50 people
Small-mid-scale rehearsals and workshops are comfortable in the Fire Room, which has a black harlequin floor, white walls and lots of natural light. Located on 1st floor.

Basic: £520 per week (£130 per day)
Commercial: £800 per week (£200 per day)
MEETING ROOMS
We have two meeting rooms, both of which are fully accessible by stairs and lift, and have ample natural light. The Brick Room also has a fixed scrolling blackboard which can be used if required. Rehearsal spaces can also be used for larger meetings or events (usual hire charges apply). The following can also be provided (subject to availability/additional costs)
